After Botox treatment

Are you ready to restore your youthful appearance with Botox? That’s great! Botox is a simple and effective solution to get rid of fine lines and wrinkles for several months. Although you’re ready to turn back the hands of time, you’re probably wondering how many units of Botox you’ll need. The answer depends on your specific treatment plan. Don’t worry, your initial consultation will answer any questions. In the meantime, here’s what you need to know before heading into your appointment.

How Does Botox Work?

Botox reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles because it temporarily paralyzes specific muscles. When injected into the specific treatment areas, it stops the muscles from contracting to virtually eliminate wrinkles for about 6 months.

Botox can be used in several areas of the face to restore a youthful appearance. Common treatment areas include:

  • Frown lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Forehead wrinkles
How Many Units of Botox Do I Need?

Unfortunately, there is no easy way to determine how many units of Botox you’ll need without first having a consultation. There are several factors that are considered when determining how much you’ll need, such as:

  • Age
  • Weight
  • Gender
  • Skin tone and color
  • Lifestyle habits, like smoking

The recommended dosage will be discussed during your consultation, so you’ll have a better understanding of what you can expect. Although it varies from patient-to-patient, here’s generally what is needed for each treatment area:

  • Forehead: 20 units
  • Glabellar Lines: 20 units (frown lines between the eyes)
  • Lateral Canthal Lines: 24 units (crow’s feet)

You can expect every 4 units to equal 1 injection. If you’re new to Botox, it’s recommended you begin with as few units as possible. The overall goal is to achieve the results you want using as little Botox as necessary.

When Will I See Results?

It will take a few days for you to see a noticeable improvement in your wrinkles and fine lines. On average, you can expect to see some change in 5 to 7 days. Most patients maintain their results for 3 to 4 months, but other people have gone as long as 6 months before needing a touchup.

Take Years off Your Appearance

If you’re ready to revitalize your appearance by diminishing fine lines and wrinkles, Botox may be right for you. Choose a trained and qualified professional to handle your treatment to ensure you achieve natural-looking results using a safe solution.
